What's in the kit-bag?

This month I have almost changed my phone from iPhone to Android (I say almost, because of an unbelievably convoluted process the phone provider has to retain my number).

In doing this I really looked at the apps I use on mobile and tablet to make sure I would still be able to do the same 'web developer' things on my replacement mobile.

Here's the rundown - it's taken me quite a lot of time, trial and error to get to this point so might be of interest to others, and I'd certainly like to know of apps that you find essential.

Tracking Outbound Links

Have you ever wanted to find out which links to external sites were popular?

It's a particularly useful thing to know if you are providing links to sponsors or advertisers but traditionally has been a little difficult with most web statistic packages.

But Google Analytics provides a way to record this kind of thing through their 'Events'. And not only can you record outbound clicks, but also downloads, ecommerce progress and pretty much anything that requires an action on the part of yourweb visitor.

It needs some Javascript knowledge and the documentation is a little daunting, but if you have a requirement, get in touch and we'll sort you out.

Most (anti?) social product ever?

Don't know about you, but when I go to a sports bar, I want to enjoy the atmosphere of the place and the chat that goes with watching the game.

In a lot of bars, especially in the US, the audio is muted so people can talk - but they miss out on the game's atmosphere.

AudioAir is a startup that will allow you to use your phone to tap into the audio system and listen to the game through your earphones. You can chat to people through the app and post comments to the bar's social network, too. Real friendly, right?

It's already raised $3m in seed funding, so maybe it will be a winner.
