What's coming in 2013?

Another year, and the web industry develops, changes and expands. The technology revolution rolls on unabated.

It's a full-time job keeping up with the what's going on.

But here are a few personal predictions, issues, aims and expectations for 2013.

I want one of these!

This is the Pebble Watch. It's a smartwatch that communicates with your mobile device (it's also a child of the KickStarter crowdfunding platform).

The idea is that it will screen phone calls and display key notifications and messages when they come in, to save you getting out your phone. You can also control the music player of your phone to say, skip a track.

It works with both iPhone and Android phones, but the iOS support is not quite as polished.

I definitely want one, but might wait for revision 2.

Man outsources own job to China

The is the best story from 2013 so far.

A software programmer in the US outsourced his own job to China to give himself free time during the working day.

It apparently cost him only a fifth of his salary to do this, and gave him the whole day to do what he wanted!

Unfortunately for him, rather than being rewarded for his initiative and entrepreneurial spirit, he was sacked.
