Are pop-ups dead?
It used to be a neat way of gaining attention on a
website - pop up a window with some special
information in it.
Of course the spammers spoiled it for everyone by
overdoing it and now everyone has pop-up blockers
enabled on their browsers.
So is there any future for using pop-ups? Maybe, but
maybe not as we know them.

Bamse - the dog hero

Here's a story to warm the cockles of your heart -
Bamse, Montrose's dog hero.
Bamse was a huge St Bernard dog who was
stationed in Montrose in WWII with his owner, the
captain of a Norwegian minesweeper.
Bamse's exploits became the stuff of legend, saving
sailors from drowning, collecting them from the pubs
of Montrose, travelling on the bus with his own pass,
and sitting astride the ship when it went to sea.
His
exploits have been recognised with a statue in
Montrose, commissioned by the Montrose Heritage
Trust, which was unveiled by the Duke of York.
You can now see all this and more at Bamse's
website.

Beat With A Stick Marketing

How many times have you thought about ways to grow
your business but you held off because you weren't
sure of the best way to start?
It's a common problem. Marketing can be a large and
bewildering field to navigate. If you're going to cross
that field, it helps to have someone standing with you
who knows the way.
Our friends at Designate have launched a new
programme to counter just this problem. It's called Beat With A
Stick, and it's not nearly as painful as it sounds. In
fact, if you're trying to grow your business, it could be
the single most cost-effective answer to all your
marketing questions.
(and besides, how can you resist something with a
name like that?)
